General Questions

Q: How long will be for each session of physiotherapy?
It takes about 1.5 hour for a new case for clinical diagnosis and treatment. For those subsequent cases, it takes about one hour or even longer for the complicated conditions.
Q: Is there any additional charge for doing both physiotherapy and acupuncture?
We normally provide acupuncture and physiotherapy without additional charge.

Questions about Acupuncture

Q: Will I feel very painful when receiving acupuncture?
You should feel mild pain when the acupuncture needle penetrates the skin. This is normal. The main feeling should be soreness with swollen sensation which is called De-Qi(得氣), resulting in good treatment effect.
Q: Will I feel dizzy when receiving acupuncture?
Acupuncture-induced dizziness with paleness occassionally happens. The main cause is due to nervousness. Other causes include fragelity, hunger, exhaust, diarrhoea, drinking wine, The dizzy patient usually does recover after removing all the needles with rest in lying position.
Q: How long should each session of acupuncture be?
One complete cycle of Qi energy flow takes 28 minutes and 48 seconds. This implies that half hour of acupuncture is enough to gain the greatest clinical effect in normal condition. For those intractable or chronic conditions, longer treatment time may be required.
Q: Are there any side effects after receiving acupuncture?
There may be mild redness with or without mild bruising on the needle wounds. No other major side effects have been reported.
Q: Can I take shower or wash hands after receiving acupuncture?
The acupuncture wounds are very small. Patients are usually advised to do something as usual one to two hours after acupuncture.
Q: How many sessions of acupuncture per week are required to gain fast recovery?
Acupuncture is famous to have instant pain relief but there will be a rebound of symptoms 2 to 3 days after treatment. It is normal response. Hence, twice or three times per week treatment are good for considerable recovery. The overall sessions are about 10 sessions but it really depends on the complexity and chronicity of the conditions.
